Today’s modern marketplace consists of
market professionals using computerized, algorithmic, quantitative trading
techniques to increase the efficiency of the market. In an automated market,
every investor—whether they are a professional trader, a market maker, a big
bank or a retail investor—benefits from the increased competition, reduced
costs, enhanced access and improved transparency enabled by “high-frequency
trading” or HFT. The tools and techniques traditionally associated with HFT
have been adopted by market participants across the board.
기술이 아무리 발전해도 특정한 회사를 선별해서 투자한다는 것은 매우 어렵습니다. 이것은 일반 투자자는 물론 소위 투자전문가라는 사람에게도 적용됩니다. 많은 정보와 자금을 가지고도 불법으로 투자 거래하는 이유는 특정한 회사 주식 선택하는 것이 얼마나 어려운지를 보여주는 증거입니다.
아이들 학자금이나 소중한 은퇴자금을 도박한다는 사람은 없습니다. 본인은 투자(investment)하고 있다고 생각하지만 실제로는 도박(speculation)를 하는 경우가 많이 있습니다.
